2023 Burning Goat Festive Kit

Will it survive this year? Or will it tumble down in ashes as so many before it have? It's time for the 2023 Burning Goat Festive Kit!

Burning Goat, you say?

That's right. In the Swedish city of Gävle there rises, every December, a Christmas straw goat. Not just any Christmas straw goat, but a goat of enormous proportions! This goat looms about 13 meters tall as it watches over the Castle Square in central Gävle. But the goat is in constant peril as it has, since its inception in 1966, been burned down by arsonists more times than not. And yes, this is despite the fact that it is highly illegal to burn down the goat. Every year millions wait in anticipation to see if the goat will survive the holiday season!

What's in the kit?

The kit consists of 25 x 20g mini skeins that tell the story of your very own Christmas straw goat. The colors this year are speckeled and mostly cool tones. Expect purples, blues, and greens with some brighter colors mixed in. However, one of the 25 minis will be when your Goat burns down! This can appear at any time during the Advent season and may even coincide with with destruction of the real Goat. (Who knows? It's been destroyed more often than not, could happen again this year...).

Each skein will be packaged in an individual, numbered box for that fun, advent calendar experience. Each kit will also contain a few extra surprise goodies to keep up the holiday spirit! 

We are offering the kit on 3 bases this year: Merino Twist (100% Superwash Merino), Socktastic (75% Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon), and Merino Singles (100% Superwash Merino single ply). As this is a 25 skein kit, it will NOT be identical to previous years' kits.
