The Roop is on fire

About the song

If there was a special prize for "strangest dance number", The Roop would have won it both 2020 and 2021. In 2020, they were on tack to perform "On Fire", but as we know the song contest was sadly cancelled due to pandemic restrictions. They returned next year with Discotheque, which is the performance that inspired this colorway (although we cheekily used the 2020 performance in the name).

The Roop represented Lithuania, and if this is how they dance in Lithuania I'm all for it. It's charming, weird, peak Eurovision, and a wonderful artistic expression. The phrase "dance like no one is watching" comes to mind, although at least 183 million viewers tuned in to the broadcast. Lithuania finished a respectable 8th place with 220 points. Notably, the jury from Italy (the winning country) gave The Roop 12 points (the maximum score), and it was the top choice for the TV votes in Norway, the UK, Latvia, Ireland and Germany. Clearly, there's a new dance wave about to spread across Europe.
