About the song

A Ukrainian comic with a drag stage persona, dressed in silver trenchcoat and head-dress that looks like a cross between a disco ball and a five-pointed star, flanked by dancers dressed in what looks to be scout uniforms made of tin foil? Who shouts "DANZING" and performs a song in German, Ukranian, Russian and English that also features the Mongolian phrase "lasha tumbai" ("milkshake" or "churned butter")? Yes, please!

Dancing lasha tumbai by Verka Serduchka was Ukraine's entry in the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest. Somewhat criticized before the competition, the song went on to finish second overall in the competition and is one of the most memorable performance of all times. In the 2019 Eurovision song contest in Israel, Verka was brought back and performed in a song-switching interval act where she performed the previous year's winner "Toy" (and Eleni Foureira of "Fuego"-fame performed Dancing lasha tumbai).
